A Dream of Nanyang梦牵南洋

A heritage walk from Raffles Place to Chinatown

A Dream of Nanyang (梦牵南洋) is a 3.5-hour cultural walking tour of Singapore, where old voyages meet the modern city. It tells a story of migration, fusion and home through the people who came to Nanyang, stayed, and built a nation.

The walk starts at Raffles Place MRT Station and ends on Pagoda Street in Chinatown, visiting a selection of Singapore’s National Monuments along the way. A guided visit to the Chinatown Heritage Centre, a traditional tea or coffee at Nanyang Old Coffee and a Tong Heng egg tart are included.

  2. Religious and festive tapestry. Temples and rituals that show how faiths blended.
  3. Modern legacy. How those early cultural blends shape Singaporean identity today.
We focus on migration and exchange, not “immigrant” labels: the people who came, stayed, and built a nation.

  • Chinese tea appreciation at Hua Xia
  • Extra drinks: S$5 each

Good to know

I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
